First’s

Filed under: Daily Life — Christine at 8:30 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Annika said her first sentence this morning:  “Mommy, I went poo-poo”.  :)   (which it wasn’t poo-poo – she calls all bathroom trips – “poo-poo”)  Nice first sentence huh?   he he

Last Friday Annika had her 2 year check-up.  She was 35 1/2” (with shoes) and 30.2 pounds (with clothes & shoes)  86% height and 87% weight – so pretty proportioned.

Ryan had his first basketball practice yesterday afternoon – he loved it!

I am STILL painting my kitchen – I am hoping to get the ceiling done today – it is driving me crazy trying to get all the lines out of it…  A friend told me I should be using flat on the ceiling instead of satin and that would have taken care of my problem.  A little late now though!

The Joys of Potty-Training

Filed under: Daily Life — Christine at 9:42 am on Monday, October 4, 2010

So Annika has been thinking about potty training for a good month or so.  She likes to sit on the toilet (yet rarely goes).

Last week she decided to pull down her pants and STAND at the toilet (obviously she has watched her brothers a few too many times…)  That didn’t work out so well for her… She is soooo confused!  LOL

This morning she woke up with a dry diaper!  I figured she had to go since it was dry, so off to the potty we went… and sat… and read books, and drank water, and bribed her with candy, and drank juice, and ran water, and tickled her, and drank more water, and painted her toenails…. for TWO (count them…) TWO hours.  Finally a tiny, 2 second trickle.  YEA!  Celebrations, relief we do not have to sit here any longer…

And I’ll let you guess what she did exactly two minutes later….

Yup, peed on the floor – about a gallon…  Guess we’re not quite ready yet!

“Saw-We”

Filed under: Daily Life — Christine at 10:10 pm on Monday, September 27, 2010

I have to write these moments down before I forget them – life moves too fast!

So yesterday, Annika got into a bit of trouble before church.  She dumped cereal / milk (that I had just told her not to touch) all over her ADORABLE purple sweater dress.  (which as a total side note, it is starting to cool down here a bit!  We pulled out the pants (and sweater dress) Sunday, and it looks like we will be wearing those here on out – unless we have another heat-wave!  But I think we are done – we’re in the lower 70’s and upper 60’s now…)

So anyway, as I am cleaning her up, and giving her a bit of a speech about how mommy just told her not to touch that…  She looks up with her big blue eyes and says “Saw-we”  YEAH…. kinda hard to be upset after that!  This is going to be a rough next 16 years if she keeps that cuteness up!  I hadn’t ever heard her say that before, but obviously she knows what it means…

Take a Look at this Weather!

Filed under: Daily Life — Christine at 8:25 pm on Monday, September 20, 2010

Two years ago, our kids wore shorts until Mid Oct.  Last year by the end of Aug. we were in jeans and sweatshirts.  We seem to be on the every other year trend – because look at this forecast for this week –

Mon
Partly Cloudy
92°F | 64°F

Tue
Partly Cloudy
92°F | 66°F

Wed
Scattered Thunderstorms
85°F | 65°F

Thu
Mostly Cloudy
90°F | 68°F

We have also had a big snow storm every other year… so I predict that around mid-end of Januray.  We shall see!

Photo Updates

Filed under: Daily Life — Christine at 12:48 am on Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Alright, I added a bunch of photos from May tonight, so you’ll have to back-track and take a look-see.  They aren’t all on exact dates, but I pulled out the cute ones I had and plugged them in.  Not as fun as getting a new one each day – I know… we’ll see if I can get better about that once we get caught up here.

T-ball is over, swim team continues, and my parents were just here for a quick whirlwind 6 days – we went on a short camping trip together for 3 of the 6 days.

I can’t believe summer is almost half-way over!  I wish it could just be like this all the time!  I love the slightly more relaxed summer schedule.

Next week Matt’s parents arrive for a couple weeks.

We had a week straight of crazy storms and tons of rain.  Then the PERFECT weather when my parents were here.  Now it’s pretty toasty.

Our garden has issues this year…  we’re trying to work on it.  I’m not sure if it got too much rain or if the raised beds dirt isn’t the best or what… but things aren’t growing that great – aside from the raspberries and strawberries – they did pretty well.

I have a huge to-do list, but don’t we all?  Just plugging along day by day!

I hope you are enjoying your summer!
